All energy efficient lamps, also known as fluorescent, together with sodium (Son/Sox) lamps contain mercury, a naturally occurring element that is pervasive in the environment. Spent lamps are classified as hazardous waste and disposing of them with your general commercial waste is an offence under the Public Health Act 1990.
Luminaires offer a True Closed Loop lamp recycling scheme where the individual components are separated out and the recycled mercury is re-used in the production of new lamps and the other materials are recycled or re-used.
